Business Conservation Programs

Commercial, Institutional and Industrial (CII) High Efficiency Toilet and Urinal Rebate Program

Your business or facility may qualify for up to $150 for each high use, high volume toilet/urinal replaced with a qualifying High Efficiency Toilet (HET) or High Efficiency Urinal (HEU). ACWD is partnering with Union Sanitary District to offer this combined total rebate of $150 per toilet/urinal to its CII customers.

High volume toilets are defined as those that use 3.5 GPF or more and urinals that flush at greater than 1.0 GPF. HETs use 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF) or less and HEUs use 0.5 GPF or less. In order to qualify for our program, the toilet you install must perform at a minimum of 350 grams per the Maximum Performance (MaP) testing protocol. Please see the latest MaP testing report at: http://www.cuwcc.org/MaPTesting.aspx

Funding is limited. Please contact ACWD's Water Conservation Department at (510) 668-4207 before you purchase toilets to see if your business qualifies for this program.

Business and Conservation

A significant part of ACWD's conservation effort is directed at the business community. Our commercial, industrial and institutional (CII) customers present important opportunities for conservation-directed programming.

Water Use Efficiency Survey Program
Our Water Use Efficiency Survey Program is designed to empower CII customers to not only save water but to save operating capital.

Whatever the business - hi-tech firms, manufacturing companies, food service establishments or gas stations - this no-cost, no-obligation program provides uniquely qualified water conservation specialists to perform in-house surveys for participating businesses. Each survey is tailored for individual water usage based on the complexity, or simplicity, of business' water demands.

After the survey is concluded, a detailed report of water use findings is produced that pinpoints areas where participants excel in efficient water use and where there is room for improvement. Interested customers should contact ACWD's water conservation staff.

Commercial, Institutional and Industrial (CII) High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate Program
High-efficiency washers use 35%-50% less water and 50% less energy than conventional washers!

Your business or facility may qualify for up to $300 for each conventional washer replaced with a qualifying high-efficiency clothes washer.  ACWD is partnering with Union Sanitary District to offer this combined total rebate of $300 per washer to its CII customers.

Funding is limited.  Please contact ACWD's Water Conservation Department at (510) 668-4207 before you purchase washers to see if your business qualifies for this program.

Designated Landscape Partnership

In the summer of 1999, ACWD launched the Designated Landscape Partnership (DLP) for our large landscape customers. After providing a landscape survey for participants, a report was issued showing recommended irrigation versus actual consumption. A copy of the report was also issued to the customer's landscape maintenance company, when requested. A new report is sent to participants every four months. If you would like to see if your business or home owner association would qualify for participation, contact a water conservation staff member.
