Fourth through twelfth grade students can learn firsthand how drinking water is purified during a visit to ACWD's Water Treatment Plant Number Two. Located on Mission Boulevard near Interstate 680, Treatment Plant Two is a state-of-the-art facility that uses ozone to disinfect water arriving from the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta via the South Bay Aqueduct. During the 90 minute program, students are first introduced to ACWD's three sources of water and the purification process and then taken on a guided tour of the plant. To schedule a field trip to Treatment Plant Two, contact our Public Education Specialist Due to safety constraints, only one class may tour the plant at a time.
