Notice of Proposed Increase in the Replenishment Assessment Rate for Groundwater
ACWD replenishes and maintains the Niles Cone Groundwater basin to ensure the supply and quality of local groundwater for the benefit of all its users. Because of increased costs to accomplish this, an 8.7% increase is being proposed in the replenishment assessment (RA) rate for groundwater pumped or extracted for purposes other than agricultural and municipal recreation, effective July 1, 2018. This would change the rate from $402 to $437 per acre-foot of groundwater extracted. Only property owners with a well, well owners, and operators of wells (or other groundwater extraction facilities) within the ACWD-managed Niles Cone Groundwater Basin would be affected by this proposal. It does not apply to the rates and charges for water served to residences and businesses by ACWD’s distribution system. A public hearing is scheduled for April 10, 2018.
