Commercial High Efficiency Toilet (HET) and Urinal (HEU) Rebate Program

High Efficiency Toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF) or less and High Efficiency Urinals use 0.5 GPF or less.  ACWD, in conjunction with Union Sanitary District, is currently offering commercial, institutional, and industrial customers a rebate of $150 toward the purchase of an HET or HEU if it is replacing a high volume toilet/urinal.  High volume toilets are defined as those that use 3.5 GPF or more and urinals that flush at greater than 1.0 GPF.

Business and Conservation

A significant part of ACWD's conservation effort is directed at the business community. Our commercial, industrial and institutional (CII) customers present important opportunities for conservation-directed programming.

Water Use Efficiency Survey Program
Our Water Use Efficiency Survey Program is designed to empower CII customers to not only save water but to save operating capital.

Whatever the business - hi-tech firms, manufacturing companies, food service establishments or gas stations - this no-cost, no-obligation program provides uniquely qualified water conservation specialists to perform in-house surveys for participating businesses. Each survey is tailored for individual water usage based on the complexity, or simplicity, of business' water demands.

After the survey is concluded, a detailed report of water use findings is produced that pinpoints areas where participants excel in efficient water use and where there is room for improvement. Interested customers should contact ACWD's water conservation staff.

Commercial Clothes Washer Rebate Program
Your business or facility may qualify for up to $350 for each conventional washer replaced with a qualifying high efficiency clothes washer.  ACWD, in partnership with Union Sanitary District, is offering $220 and the California Public Utilities Commission will add an additional $130 for a combined total rebate of $350 per washer.  High efficiency washers use 35%-50% less water and 50% less energy than conventional washers.  Eligible customers must receive water service from ACWD.  Funding is limited.  For more information go to www.conservationrebates.com and click on the Commercial Laundry program link or contact ACWD’s water conservation specialist.

Designated Landscape Partnership

In the summer of 1999, ACWD launched the Designated Landscape Partnership (DLP) for our large landscape customers. After providing a landscape survey for participants, a report was issued showing recommended irrigation versus actual consumption. A copy of the report was also issued to the customer's landscape maintenance company, when requested. A new report is sent to participants every four months. If you would like to see if your business or home owner association would qualify for participation, contact a water conservation staff member.

Smart Rebates for Cooling Tower Conductivity Controllers and X-Ray Film Processor Re-Circulation Systems

ACWD's commercial, industrial and institutional customers may qualify for a "Smart Rebate" toward the installation of a Cooling Tower Conductivity Controller (CTCC) or X-Ray Film Processor Re-Circulation System.

X-Ray Film Processor Re-Circulation System Rebate - $2,000 - The amount of water required to operate a non-digital x-ray film processor can be reduced by 98%! In one year, a typical film processing system needlessly sends hundreds of thousands of gallons of water down the drain. The average processor uses 788,400 gallons of water per year. With a re-circulation system, you can reduce wash-water effluent to 13,530 gallons per year, which lowers water and sewage costs.

Cooling Tower Conductivity Controller Rebate - $1,200 or $900 - Annual water savings with a new Cooling Tower Conductivity Controller can be as much as 800,000 gallons. Automated monitoring and control are the keys to maintaining cooling system efficiency. By accurately transmitting information to the valves that control the amount of blow down (water drained from the cooling tower reservoir) and subsequent makeup water, a conductivity controller can dramatically reduce operating expenses.

For rebate applications, qualifying model lists and other program information go to the CUWCC website at: http://www.cuwcc.org/smartrebates/smartrebates_home.lasso or call 1-800-563-5874 for more programmatic details.

Smart Rebates is a statewide program administered by the California Urban Water Conservation Council (CUWCC). The Smart Rebates Program is made possible with funding assistance from the State of California pursuant to the California Proposition 50, Water Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act of 2002, and participating water utilities.
