Go behind the scenes for a guided tour of ACWD's Water Treatment Plant No. 2 in full operation. Water Treatment Plant No. 2 (WTP2) was placed in service in 1993. It is a conventional ozone plant used to treat water delivered via the South Bay Aqueduct and located on Mission Boulevard near the I-680 interchange in Fremont.
Tours of our water treatment plant are available to community and school groups (elementary school grade 4 and older). Tours are available Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. It is required to fill out the Tour Request Form and submit at least 2 weeks before preferred date. An e-mail will be sent to confirm tour date.
After your tour date/time is scheduled, every tour participant is required to submit a Visitor Form 1 week before the tour date:
For more information about the history, operation and function of this plant, please visit the Water Treatment Plant No.2 web page.
Come along with Anna, the steelhead trout, and ACWD friends on our first-ever virtual tour for an up-close look at our fish passage projects in Alameda Creek. The virtual tour was recorded via Zoom on October 21, 2020, in recognition of Imagine a Day Without Water.
If you would like to see a recording of the tour, please go here.
