Background
The Central Newark Thornton Avenue Project is part of the District’s Water Main Renewal Program. The project includes open cut trench installation of approximately 5,200 LF of 8-inch and 12-inch steel pipe, and 12-inch PVC pipe to replace the aging infrastructure and improve water service reliability. As part of the installation, existing water service connections and fire hydrants will also be replaced.
Status
Construction is anticipated April 2024 to March 2026 and will be performed by A&B Construction, Inc.

Thornton Avenue, between Cherry Street and Cedar Boulevard and Cherry Street, Newark.
