Background
The Alameda County Water District (ACWD) continues to invest in infrastructure to ensure a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water to our customers. ACWD will commence the Lindsay Tract and Birch Street Main Renewal Project. This Project is part of the District’s Water Main Renewal Program and will replace a 60-70 year-old asbestos cement water main while improving system hydraulics, seismic reliability, and reducing maintenance costs.
Status
Construction is anticipated to commence in November 2024 and continue through October 2025. The work will be performed by A&B Construction, Inc.
Location
The work for the Lindsay Tract and Birch Street Main Renewal Project is in the public right of way in the City of Newark at two Project locations: Lindsay Tract and Birch Street. The Lindsay Tract location includes the intersections of George Avenue with Magnolia, Olive, and Mulberry Streets between the cul-de-sac adjacent to the Newark Slough drainage channel and Dairy Avenue. The Birch Street location is between Thornton Avenue and Baine Avenue.
