[ARCHIVED] Fishing Tackle Exchange Program Reduces Lead at Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area

The Alameda County Water District in partnership with the East Bay Regional Park District has reached a milestone in a 10-year lead fishing tackle exchange program. Since its inception, the program has collected more than 1,000 pounds of lead at Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area. This free program allows anglers to trade in lead weights and sinkers for steel equivalents – reducing the amount of lead entering the lakes. Read more about the program in an article recently featured in the San Francisco Chronicle.
